Interview with Carolyn Edlund of Artsy Shark
“An interesting thing happens when you share big ideas: people contribute to them. What better way to evolve a project than get input from others on what they would like to see?”
I recently got to sit down with Carolyn Edlund of Artsy Shark and discuss my year-long painting project,”The Art of Grieving”.
In the article, I discuss how I came to responding to grief through art, what the broader vision for the project is, and also elaborate on my own observations from discussing grief and this project with others.
Some observations I expand on :
– There’s no uniform way people deal with grief
– The impact of death is a rarely discussed topic
– The process of grieving is much longer than most people think
– Death seems far away and even foreign for those who haven’t experienced it
Huge thanks to Carolyn for the opportunity to share my story! Also, a big shoutout to Kimberly Davis because this required a level of bravery influenced by her writings.
