Official Movie Poster Release
Today, I’m proud to share the official poster artwork for The Art of Grieving documentary – which is tentatively planned for release late this year.
Creating poster artwork is an odd task, if you ask me. There was a time when movie posters were largely driven by hand-created artwork and then scanned onto the computer. Many of our favorite movies and classics from the 60s-90s are comprised of this style. Yet, most of what you see today are simple photographs of the stars of the movie and a blue/orange color scheme. Well, my mug isn’t that recognizable for such a thing!
In a movie that is largely centered around artwork (both my own and historical artwork), there was no way not to feature hand-created artwork on the cover. With 365 pieces, how could I possibly do this, and without revealing the final mosaic from the documentary?
Early on, I experimented with the concept of a kaleidoscope for the title animations of the film, and this is what translated to the final movie poster you see here. In fact, the artwork is a kaleidoscope of the final mosaic.
The kaleidoscope is perfectly fitting for the grieving process in that we’re all looking through grief from a different angle and will journey through it in a way that works for each person.
Next week, the first trailer for the documentary will be released. In the meantime, please visit the website to sign up for news on the documentary and more.
As always, thank you for your continued support!
